With more carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects taking shape, CO₂ transport by ship will be essential to guarantee full-scale CO₂ transport across Europe. Ships are crucial to transport smaller volumes of CO₂, for long-distance transportation, and to transport CO₂ from isolated sites as well as for smaller and early-stage projects. The Zero Emissions Platform (ZEP) and the Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA) have conducted a study to outline the scope of a European market for CO₂ shipping by 2030, focusing on interoperability, barriers, and commercialization enablers.
NGOs and industries gathered during ZEP’s stakeholder session during the EU Industry Days in Malaga, exchanging views on CCS and CCU state-of-play in Europe and discussing challenges and enablers to support industries unlock the potential of CCS.
ZEP is launching the Projects Network, fostering knowledge sharing among project developers and supporting the deployment of CCS and CCU projects across Europe.
