Brussels, 1 July 2024 — The Zero Emissions Platform (ZEP), the trusted advisor to the EU on industrial carbon management, is pleased to announce the appointment of Eadbhard Pernot as its new Secretary-General.

Eadbhard steps up from his current role as Policy and Advocacy Director, having recently joined ZEP from the environmental NGO, Clean Air Task Force, where his work on climate action and carbon capture and storage has established him as a notable advocate for industrial carbon management.

Eadbhard Pernot stated about his new role:

“I’m honoured by the trust placed in me by ZEP to lead the secretariat.” “As we enter this new era for industrial carbon management in Europe, I hope to ensure that ZEP remains at the forefront of the industrial carbon management community in Europe as it has done so for nearly 20 years”, he added.

Eve Tamme, Chair of Zero Emissions Platform, said:

“I’m delighted to welcome Eadbhard Pernot as the new ZEP Secretary General. He is well placed to offer strong leadership and increase the impact and visibility of ZEP in advancing the deployment of industrial carbon management technologies in Europe. I’d also like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank Eadbhard’s predecessor, Joop Hazenberg, for his contribution to building ZEP into the organisation it is today”.

In his capacity as Secretary-General, Eadbhard will be at the heart of ZEP’s mission to develop and deploy industrial carbon management at scale across Europe in line with Europe’s climate ambition.
