Zişan Özdemir

Technology and Policy Analyst

Zisan Ozdemir is a Technology and Policy Analyst at ZEP, where she works at the intersection of CO₂ standards, technological developments, and emerging business and financing models for carbon management. She represents ZEP at ISO/TC 265 and CEN/TC 474 as a liaison observer, tracks relevant technological developments, and contributes to ZEP’s work on business models, financing, de-risking and risk-allocation frameworks, and demand-side initiatives such as the CDR Buyers’ Club, helping strengthen the conditions for credible CCS and CDR deployment.

Before joining ZEP, she gained experience across research, think tanks, consulting, startups, and venture capital, working on climate technologies, greenhouse gas accounting, corporate decarbonisation strategies, and project coordination. She was also a visiting researcher at the Yale MacMillan Centre, where she examined barriers to CCS and CCU deployment in developing countries, with a particular focus on the requirements for a fair and equitable transition.

Zisan holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering and an MSc in Environmental Sciences, and is motivated by ensuring carbon management solutions are deployed with integrity and deliver real climate impact. She has also volunteered with multiple organisations to coordinate climate tech events that convene diverse stakeholders, strengthening communication and collaboration.
