Charles Soothill is a mechanical engineer and technology leader in fields of power and energy for more than 40 years. He has recently retired as the Head of Technology for Sulzer Rotating Equipment Services, in Switzerland, where he lead innovation. Examples include retrofit emissions reduction products, for application in energy infrastructure. Previously he served as technology leader with GE and Alstom. As Chief Technology Officer he was responsible for the development of the full range of power generation technologies. He is a leader and advocate for the development and implementation of Carbon Capture and Storage to reduce the emissions of CO2 to atmosphere. The aim is to allow continued economic activity while meeting climate goals. He was instrumental in the foundation in 2005, and is a Vice Chairman of, the Zero Emissions Platform, ZEP, a Europe based multi-stakeholder group on Emissions reduction and emissions related energy policy.
