Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), and Utilisation (CCU), technologies will play a key role in the industrial transition towards net-zero GHG emissions. Yet these prospects must face up to a range of challenges in the EU.
Organised by the Zero Emissions Platform (ZEP), this online event assembled key stakeholders from industry, research communities, and civil society to discuss the importance of CO2 transport and storage infrastructure for decarbonising the EU. It also discussed how the EU can steer more investment towards green technologies through its Innovation Fund and European Taxonomy. Market-ready CCS and CCU projects were showcased, along with the policy and financial frameworks that are needed to ensure operational activity before 2030.
